Anti-theft alarm and bike finder in one? The Knog Scout offers exactly that, putting off potential bike thieves while at the same time allowing you to track your bike. You can either install Knog’s lightweight device discreetly under the bottle cage or advertise it to potential thieves by using the neon-yellow cover. Whichever way you decide to go, special anti-tamper screws make it harder to remove the device from the bike. For tracking, the system uses Apple’s ‘Find My’ app, relying on the same Bluetooth tracker as Apple’s AirTags. Once connected to the Knog iOS app, you can activate the Scout’s motion sensor directly from your smartphone. If someone tries to move or tamper with the bike, a powerful 85 dB alarm will scare them off. At the same time, the system will send a notification to your mobile, and allow you to see the device’s location. The Scout’s battery lasts up to 6 months on a full charge and can be charged via USB-C.
Once armed, any movement of a Scout fitted Bike will trigger the motion-sensitive audio alarm discouraging any further movement and alerting the bike’s owner, both by the sound of the alarm and via a notification that is automatically sent to the owner’s iPhone (when in Bluetooth range). Then in a scenario where a bike fitted with Scout is not where the owner has left it, it can be quickly located using Apple’s network via the ‘Find My’ app.
